FOLLOWING OUR DREAM
LET'S INTRODUCE OURSELVESWe are Kor Verduin and Marie-Louise Verduin-Acket.
Since a few years we were searching for opportunities to leave Holland and build a new excistance abroad, together with our 3 dogs Zoë, Yara and Taiga and our 5 horses.
After several wanderings especially in France and Spain, we finally ended up in the Czech Republic.
We were immediately enthusiastic. We were very impressed by the beautiful nature, the many forests, lakes, rivers and historic towns.
We have first sought mainly for a ranch with a great number of land in South Bohemia, but we ended up in the little town Sedlec Lanžov in eastern Bohemia.
Here we found a former watermill on approximately 2.5 ha of land.
Because this wasn't enough basis for our plans and our horses we have bought 5 hectares of extra land.
We would love to set up a small camping. And we would like to realize , besides housing for ourselves, at least 3 apartments in the large building for guests where we can offer them bed and breakfast.
The watermill is an old building and dates back to 1856 but has been well maintained. There are a lot of thick oak beams inside and the roof is good.
Of course, a few things need to be done. The electricity will be replaced.
The sewerage system needs renewal, as well as the plumbing. And the building needs lots of stucco and has to be painted inside and outside.
If all of that is finished however, we have created something really beautiful.
The only drawback so far is the language. It is very difficult for us to learn, because it is a Slavic language, and not at all like any other language that we control at least a little. But we purchased a course Czech and in a little English, German and with use of hands and feet, we hope to make ourselves somewhat understandable.
As you can read, there is still quite a bit of work to be done and we will probably have to face some unexpected circumstances. But we will go for it and are determined to make it a success.
